History

INEOS Fluor continues a proud tradition of innovation in fluorine chemistry dating back over 50 years in ICI. Innovation has made us one of the leading fluorine technology companies and remains our life-blood. We continue to be first in the world in many areas:

 1989 ICI invests in a new HFC 134a facility in the UK.

 1990 The world's first HFC 134a plant brought on line in record time.

 1992 The world's largest HFC 134a plant opened by ICI at St Gabriel, Louisiana.
ICI open the world's first HFC 32 plant in the UK.
ICI Teijin Fluorochemicals Ltd established.

 1993 Joint venture with Teijin Limited commence manufacture of KLEA™134a at Mihara, Japan.
ICI is the only company in the world to have HFC production facilities in Europe, USA and Asia.
McRobert and Kirkpatrick Awards for Innovation and Excellence in the manufacture of KLEA™134a.
St Gabriel facility (USA) expanded.

 1995 The world's first dedicated HFA 134a facility for the manufacture of ZEPHEX™ (HFA 134a) to cGMP standard.
Increased KLEA™134a capacity at Mihara, Japan.

 1997 Best of the best Ozone Protection Award received from the US EPA.

 1998 Expansion of KLEA™134a capacity in Japan.

 2000 Further expansion of KLEA™ capacity.
Joint venture with Great Lakes Chemical Company to produce ZEPHEX™227ea.
Vent treatment unit in the UK provides significant reduction in greenhouse gas emission.
ICI Klea wins top climate protection award from the US EPA.

 2001 INEOS acquires ICI Klea and forms INEOS Fluor.
INEOS Fluor manufacture KLEA™125 in the UK.
Global QS9000 achieved.
