History

The history of our company can be traced back to Leopold Cassella, who founded in 1838 Leopold Cassella & Comp. a company whose major business was trading with colours.

 1935 Discovery of Melamine resins at the Cassella site in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

 1970 Hoechst becomes the major shareholder of Cassella AG (75% Hoechst, 25% widely held stock).

 1995 Change of ownership from Cassella AG to Hoechst AG, Site Cassella.
Separation of resins business into Vianova Resins.
 1999 Acquired by Solutia Inc.

 2003 Acquired by UCB / Surface Specialties.

 2005 Acquired by but held separate from Cytec Surface Specialties.
Acquired by INEOS and formation of INEOS Melamines GmbH.
