History

 1949 Naphtachimie, Lavéra created by 3 partners: Pechiney, Kuhlmann and SGHP (first company name of BP in France).

 1953 Lavéra: Start-up of the first cracker – capacity 10 ktpa.

 1957 Köln site founded as "EC-Erdölchemie", a JV of BP and Bayer.

 1958 Köln: Start-up of cracker n°1.

 1960 Lavéra: Start-up of cracker n°2 – capacity 30 ktpa.
Köln: Start-up of cracker n°2.

 1963 Köln: Start-up of cracker n°3.

 1966 Lavéra: Start up of cracker n° 3 – capacity 100 ktpa.

 1968 Grangemouth: G4 cracker commissioned.

 1970 Köln: Start-up of cracker n°4.

 1972 Lavéra: Start up of cracker n° 4 – capacity 400 ktpa.

 1978 Köln: Start-up of cracker n°5.

 1980 Lavéra: BP becomes a 50% shareholder of Naphtachimie.

 1991 Lavéra: Cracker n°4 further debottlenecked to 700 ktpa.

 1993 Grangemouth: Train 1 KG cracker commissioned.

 2001 Köln: BP took over the Bayer share of the EC-Erdölchemie JV and company changed name to BP Köln.
Grangemouth: Train 2 KG cracker commissioned.

 2002 Köln: Ethane cracker line commissioned.

 2005 INEOS acquires Grangemouth and Köln olefins assets from BP, and BP’s share of Naphtachimie.

 2006 INEOS Olefins is formed.
