History

 1981 ICI forms new electrochemical technology group for the development of chlor-alkali electrolysers, and launches  FM™ monopolar technology.

 1984 BP acquires the SOHIO acrylonitrile process.

 1985 BP commences licensing of gas phase fluid bed process for linear polyethylenes.

 1995 Amoco sells first gas phase polypropylene licence.

 1996 SOHIO acrylonitrile process, is designated the 11th National Historic Chemical Landmark by the American Chemical Society.

 1999 BICHLOR™ chlor-alklai electrolyser technology released to the market.
BP Amoco merger. Enhanced polyolefins technology range established.

 2001 BP - Solvay joint venture formed, including HDPE slurry technology.

 2004 Solvay exits JV with BP.  HDPE slurry technology wholly owned by BP.

 2005 BICHLOR™ electrolysers supplied for INEOS ChlorVinyls’ 420 kTe membrane chlorine plant at Runcorn, UK.
INEOS acquires Innovene from BP.

 2006 INEOS Technologies formed.
 2008 INEOS Bio formed.
