Our Business

Overview INTRODUCTION

  • INTRODUCTION

INEOS Breagh is an exploration and production (E&P) company for natural gas. We provide the safe, secure and reliable production of crude oil, condensates and natural gas. We currently supply around 20 kboe/d of mostly natural gas.

Through purchasing licences and concessions INEOS Breagh carries out exploration projects in core regions as an operator or a partner of other E&P enterprises.

In our exploration and production operations INEOS Breagh applies extensive geo-scientific know-how, state-of-the-art drilling and production technology. In all our activities particular importance is attached to safety and health, environmental protection, and reliability.

  • Oil and gas secure energy supplies

For decades, fossil-based energy sources have been indispensable for the development of the world economy. Despite the on-going expansion in the use of renewable energy, natural gas will continue to be amongst the world's major energy sources in the coming decades. Natural gas in particular has a major role to play in the new energy mix. Natural gas is one of the most important raw materials for modern industry and society. It continues to play a dominant role as a fuel with 84% of British households currently relying on gas for heating. By replacing coal in electricity generation gas can halve CO2 emissions. What’s more, it is indispensable in the production of plastics and other chemical products upon which society depends.

  • INEOS Breagh’s business model

INEOS Breagh's business purpose is the responsible, reliable, long-term extraction of natural gas.

Our strengths include our know-how, extensive geological and technological experience, using ultra-modern drilling and production techniques, and our commitment to research and development. We are a high-performance company involved in demanding projects in the Southern North Sea.

  • Successful partnerships

INEOS Breagh consistently engages in strategic consortium partnerships as a means of diversifying its investments in E&P projects. We cooperate closely with competent partners in projects in the UK – as operator or concession partner in onshore and offshore projects.

  • ICoP - Access to Breagh Infrastructure

The Breagh field is tied back to a normally unmanned installation (NUI) on the western area of the field. The Breagh A offshore platform transports the produced fluids through the Breagh 20” export pipeline to the onshore Teesside Gas Processing Plant (TGPP), for process treatment, fiscal metering and sale. A second phase of Breagh development is planned.

    Primary Separation Processing Facilities

There are no on-board separation facilities at Breagh A. Separation is provided at the TGPP terminal. Compression may be provided at the terminal or offshore in the future. Liquid handling at TGPP is provided by a slug catcher with a 5,000 bbls capacity. Condensate and MEG separation/dedicated MEG regeneration facilities are provided, prior to gas export to NGT.

    Gas Treatment Facilities

Gas treatment facilities at TGPP enable gas conditioning to NTS export specification. This is achieved using ‎the following; gas-gas interchange, propane refrigeration, and Joule-Thomson expansion cooling.  These are used in combination to reduce the temperature of the gas sufficiently for the heavier hydrocarbons and water to coalesce and be separated out in the Dew Point Separator.

  • ICoP - Access to Clipper South Infrastructure

The Clipper South field is producing via a not-normally-manned (NNM) platform. The platform was manned during development drilling but now operates through remote control via ConocoPhillips LOGGS platform. Clipper South exports its gas via the LOGGS complex and 36” gas trunk line, which is connected to the Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal (TGT) in Lincolnshire.  TGT is expected to close in 2018.
