INEOS ChlorVinyls Announces Sale of its Packed Chlorine Business to BOC
25 March 2008
INEOS ChlorVinyls has today announced it has reached an agreement to sell its Packed Chlorine business to BOC (recently acquired by The Linde Group). The value of the deal is not disclosed.
The sale consists of the Packed Chlorine production facilities at Runcorn Site together with the associated commercial goodwill of the business.
The Packed Chlorine business is specialised and consists of the production, packaging and delivery of chlorine liquefied gas in both drums and cylinders, which is predominantly used for water disinfection and chemical intermediate applications.
BOC specialise in the production and transportation of a wide range of gases to customers around the world in manufacturing, healthcare and advanced technology and research industries. The acquisition of INEOS ChlorVinyls’ Packed Chlorine business is a good strategic fit with BOC’s existing product portfolio.
Chris Tane, CEO INEOS ChlorVinyls comments: “This sale represents the best option for the Packed Chlorine business to secure its long-term future and allows us to focus on strengthening our core businesses. We believe that BOC has the experience and the expertise to take this business forward and maximise it to its full potential.”
It is expected that the sale will be completed once necessary approvals from the Office of Fair Trading have been obtained.
