The entry into force date for the reclassification according the 6th ATP has been postponed from 1st April 2015 to 1st January 2016.

In Europe formaldehyde (FA) has been re-classified as Carcinogenicity Cat 1B (not restricted to inhalation route) and Mutagenicity (germ cells) Cat 2. The EU Commission has amended the 6th ATP (EU/605/2014) because of some delays in the adoption process of the transition period of only 10 months appears insufficient to allow economic operators to adapt to the new rules. In Article 3 of Regulation (EU) No 605/2014, paragraph 3 has been replaced by the following: "Article 1(3) shall apply from 1 January 2016".

Germany decided on an OEL for formaldehyde ( 0.3 ppm Time-Weighted Average (TWA), 4 x 15 min peaks of 0.6 ppm Short-Term Exposure Limits (STEL)).

Our formaldehyde Letter will provide some back ground information and an outline of INEOS actual activities in the context of the Formaldehyde re-classification.
