INEOS Oligomers has achieved the EFfCI GMP cosmetic ingredients certification for its cosmetics ingredients manufacturing site in Cologne, Germany. The certification has been granted by the independent certification body, DQS CFS.

 The EFfCI (European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients) GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certification ensures the consistency of the quality monitoring and assurance systems applied in the production of cosmetic ingredients. This is key to assure the safety and quality of the cosmetic products, more specifically isohexadecane and isododecane.

Isohexadecane has reached full EFfCI GMP certification since October 2022, while for isododecane, implementation of approved investments during the first half of 2023 will result in having this product fully EFfCI GMP certified as well by September 2023 at the latest.

Isohexadecane is a clear, colorless, hydrophobic and odorless liquid providing emollient properties and excellent spreading characteristics. It imparts a non-drying feel on the skin and has a light, smooth feel with excellent cleansing characteristics. Applications for use include: face and eye make-up cleansers, skin care, sun care, color cosmetics, bath oils and foundation creams.

Isododecane is a clear, colorless and odorless, volatile liquid that's used as an emollient. Isododecane does not absorb into the skin but evaporates from it. It provides a non-oily light skin feel and it can improve the slip of the formula without leaving a tacky residue behind. It's also popular in make-up products such as long-wear lipsticks and foundations where it helps to minimize color transfer and lends itself to a lightweight matte finish. Finally, its volatile properties allow mascaras and foundations to last longer. In recent developments, Isododecane is a preferred choice for D5 replacement.
