Respiratory & drug delivery devices

Syringes, needleless injection devices

Terlux® HD and Zylar® are excellent choices for syringe body applications. These products offer practical toughness, excellent clarity and superior processing characteristics. In addition, they offer excellent property retention and color consistency after gamma, E-beam, NO2, or EtO sterilisation, as well as good chemical resistance to many detergents, cleaning solutions and alcohols. Syringes made from Terlux® HD and Zylar® are also incineratable.

Insulin, injection pens

Novodur® HD is not only the material of choice for injection pens, but also for numerous other medical devices. This resin is easy to mould – with fast cycle times – and the resulting parts are aesthetically pleasing, offer an excellent balance of chemical and physical properties as well as provide great dimensional stability. Good bondability through ultrasonic welding, solvent or adhesives is another key feature of our Novodur® HD. Zylar® can be used for the transparent display of injection pens.

Inhalers

INEOS Styrolution Novodur® HD ABS is the reference material for inhaler housings. The pre-coloured Novodur® HD not only meets the regulatory compliancy needs of the medical industry, it also delivers excellent mechanical properties, high flowability, heat resistance and a high-quality surface appearance. Terlux® HD & Zylar® can also be used for transparent cover pieces.

Sleep apnea devices, air filter housings

Styrolux® is used almost exclusively for rigid, tough parts requiring the highest level of clarity. Leading healthcare companies therefore choose INEOS Styrolution's specialty grade Styrolux® for its outstanding transparency and low intrinsic colour, its excellent impact strength and superior processability to create breathing filter housings. Terlux® HD, Zylar® and Novodur® HD can also be used for this application.

Nebulizers & humidifiers

Gründler chose INEOS Styrolution’s Terlux® HD for its HumiCare® range of medical humidifiers, which are designed to save hospital patients from the dry mouth side effect of using artificial respiration devices. This product grade offers a unique combination of properties, such as impact strength and chemical resistance.
