New third party on INEOS Oxide site in Zwijndrecht
On the 27th of April 2010, INEOS Oxide has entered into an agreement with BYK-Chemie to produce on their behalf specialty alkoxylates and to provide the raw materials and utilities.
BYK-Chemie, part of the ALTANA Group, produces additives to ensure that coatings and plastics obtain precisely the desired properties and the correct quality. Alkoxylates are an important raw material in the production of these additives.
BYK is an innovative company that each year develops and offers to its customers several new additives. This agreement enables BYK to produce the in-house developed alkoxylates at industrial scale. The start of the production is expected end of Q1, 2011.
Next to the production of specialty alkoxylates on behalf of BYK, INEOS will provide all necessary services like maintenance, quality control and site security. INEOS will also be responsible for the supply of the raw materials ethylene oxide and propylene oxide. INEOS is the largest producer of ethylene oxide in Europe with plants in Zwijndrecht, Köln and Lavéra and produces propylene oxide at its Köln site. Finally INEOS will supply all required utilities.
BYK is the twelfth host company on the INEOS Oxide site in Zwijndrecht. Other hostcompanies, called ‘Third Parties’, are: Borealis Antwerp Compounding, bECO2, Dow, Essent, Kuraray, Momentive Performance Materials, Nippon Shokubai, Praxair, Seppic, Sika and Specialty Polymers Antwerp.
