INEOS Silicas Wins 2004 Crystal Faraday Green Chemical Technology Award for SORBSIL® CHAMELEON® Desiccant Silica Gel

The Crystal Faraday Awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement in the commercialisation of Green and Sustainable Chemical Technology, were announced at the Chemical Industry Association Awards dinner on July 6th in Manchester by BBC presenter Natasha Kaplinsky.

INEOS Silicas won the 'Green Product Design Award' for the Commercialisation of Sorbsil®CHAMELEON® desiccant silica gel, for the replacement of cobalt chloride-based moisture indicators with environmentally friendly iron compounds. Dr John Bush, Warrington Site Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the Company. Other entrants for the Green Chemical Technology Awards included CIBA Speciality Chemicals, GlaxoSmithKline and Johnson Matthey.

"We are delighted to recognise the strides that leading British companies are making in creating value from innovation in Green Chemical Technol® CHAMELEON® Desiccant Silica Gel won a Queens Award for Enterprise for Innovation and has also won a prestigious BT 'Investing in Excellence Award' in the 'Contribution to Continuous Environmental Improvement' Category.
