INEOS BICHLOR™ electrolysers selected by Chemfab Alkalis Karaikal Limited (CAKL) for major chlor-alkali plant investment in India

INEOS Electrochemical Solutions has today announced that it has been selected by Chemfab Alkalis Karaikal Limited (CAKL), a newly formed Wholly owned Subsidiary of Chemfab Alkalis Limited (CCAL), to supply chlor-alkali electrolysis technology for their prestigious new production facility in India.

CAKL will establish a new chlor-alkali plant in Karaikal, South India. The initial caustic soda capacity of 250 TPD will be installed at the 65 acres development and will be expandable to 1000 TPD in phases. The first phase of the project will be commissioned in mid-2024.

INEOS Electrochemical Solutions, one of the world's leading chlor-alkali solution providers, will provide state-of-the-art BICHLOR™ bipolar membrane electrolysers for the facility. BICHLOR electrolysers feature very low power consumption for significant energy savings, a class-leading output of NaOH, the largest effective working area per module and a robust, safe construction with superior strength and simple maintenance.

CCAL, a leading chemicals manufacturer in India, has a long track record of implementing innovative technologies successfully to stay at the forefront of the industry. With considerable investment in novel processes and quality technology, CCAL operations have been at the cutting edge since its inception in 1985.
