Meeting food contact requirements with confidence

Luran® S 797S FC and Luran® S MED 797S FC stand out as strong material choices for household applications ranging from water filter lids, toothbrushes and water flossers to kitchen appliances with visible housings as well as food delivery boxes and interior parts of refrigerated trucks.

These two grades deliver the consistent colour appearance, long-term colour stability and lasting impact resistance that manufacturers expect for components that require both aesthetics and durability.

Both grades are certified for food contact in the EU, providing a solid regulatory foundation for manufacturers. Luran® S MED 797S FC also includes biocompatibility testing to ISO 10993-5 and ISO 10993-10, along with enhanced change notification support. This structured approach supports smoother qualification processes, particularly in regulated environments.

Durability under daily use

Both ASA grades are engineered for food contact parts that face detergents, fats, temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress. By combining strong chemical resistance, impact strength and UV stability, they help preserve surface quality and mechanical integrity over time, even in demanding household environments. Good flow properties also support consistent mould filling, contributing to stable processing and reduced scrap.

Balancing performance and sustainability

Bio-attributed versions of these grades contain up to 40 percent renewable feedstock and are certified under ISCC PLUS. They can reduce product carbon footprint by up to 52 percent compared with fossil-based equivalents. This enables manufacturers to meet sustainability targets without redesigning parts or sacrificing performance.
