Rosignano

The Rosignano site is located on the western coast of Italy, 45km from Pisa and 120km from Florence.

INEOS operates within the historic Rosignano industrial area through two companies: INEOS Manufacturing Italia, which has been part of the INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe business since 2005; and INOVYN Produzione Italia, which has been part of the INEOS Inovyn business since 2016.

Both companies excel in developing innovative products and processes, pursuing safety for people and the environment, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

INEOS Manufacturing Italia is part of the Rosignano Solvay chemical complex, which includes a jetty, ethylene storage, a polymerisation plant and a polyolefin research unit. The site operates four slurry reactors and four extruders to produce high-density polyethylene (HDPE), distributed across Europe. It is one of three HDPE units within INEOS O&P Europe South and the company’s only polymer plant in Italy.

The HDPE produced is used across industries for applications such as food packaging closures, agricultural textiles, and moulded goods including containers and packaging.

At Rosignano, INEOS Inovyn produces chlorine, hydrogen and a range of chemical derivatives supplied to sectors including chemicals, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. The site is a leading European hydrogen producer. Its electrolysis plant, originally built in the 1930s and modernised to membrane technology in 2007, is supported by a research unit that serves as a centre of electrochemical expertise for the wider INEOS Inovyn business.

The Rosignano site holds the following management system certifications: ISO 9001:2015 for Quality; ISO 14001:2015 for Environment; ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety; and UNI/PdR 125:2022 for Gender Equality (INEOS Inovyn). It is also certified to ISO 50001:2018 for Energy management (INEOS Manufacturing Italia) and ISO/IEC 17025:2018 for laboratory competence (INEOS Inovyn).
