Rosignano site gets ISO 50001 certification

INEOS attention to a company management system marked by highest quality standards has recently materialized in the UNI EN ISO 50001 certification - Energy Management System, that is in addition to the general quality management certification (UNI EN ISO 9001), the environmental management certification (UNI EN ISO 14001) and the workplace safety management certification (OHSAS 18001).

ISO 50001 standard specifies requirements for defining, implementing and maintaining an Energy Management System (EMS). Organizations with an EMS are systematically oriented to improve their energy performance, in terms of both consumptions efficiency and rational use of energy.

This is exactly the route INEOS Manufacturing Italia undertook three years ago. A first energy audit formalized a starting picture of the situation, identifying energy improvement opportunities. In the meantime a new corporate and company policy was also defined, where energy efficiency was identified as the major contrast measure to climate changes.

The path to ISO 50001 certification led to create a dedicated project team and the subsequent adoption of a large internal training program, so as to explain the new policy and guidelines of the EMS project, up to the definition of the ways each single individual can contribute to improve energy efficiency.

From September to November 2016, a total of 210 people were formed according to five different training profiles, including the staff of the major service partners operating in Rosignano plant.

The new EMS is based on the new company approach to energy, which can be synthesized in three main guidelines:

  • build a EMS in a gradual and progressive manner, using the available resources in terms of knowledge and equipment;
  • allow all individuals to bring their own contribution by sharing suggestions and remarks with the project team;
  • pursue the improvement of energy performance through the adoption of an energy action plan, where the list of energy projects approved and funded will be realized over time.
