Prepare to push yourself
Graduates who join INEOS are given clear accountability as a key part of our business, with real targets and responsibilities from day one.
This way, we’ve found that INEOS graduates learn faster, have better job satisfaction and deliver more quickly than if we rotate them through a series of placements which have been handed down from graduate to graduate for years.
This straightforward approach works for us, and for our graduates. We get a fresh perspective and they feel valued because they get to work day-to-day with high calibre individuals - experts in their field - from the start of their career.
What can you expect?
- A real job from Day One. Become a key part of our business with specific accountability and responsibility from the start.
- Meaningful roles that are more rewarding. INEOS graduates learn faster get more satisfaction than if we rotate them through a set of ‘starter’ placements.
- Access to high-calibre mentors. Our graduates work day-to-day and get support from highly experienced experts in your field.
Apart from the variety, you instantly get a lot of responsibility at INEOS. This is something you don’t get so soon in other companies, and gives you the possibility to learn and grow quickly

The INEOS Difference
You’ll find we have a flat organisational structure. We don’t like committees and are non-bureaucratic. We put real value on everyone being open, informal and non-hierarchical. This means that as part of the team your ideas will be heard from the very start.
Along with everyone at INEOS, you’ll be exposed to senior decision-makers as part of your role. Don’t be daunted, we want you to challenge the status quo because fresh thinking and new ways of doing things are critical to the ongoing success of our company.
If you thrive on challenge and are prepared to push yourself, then our direct approach to business will give you the opportunity to deliver from Day One.
In this short film Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS, explains why the company is such an exciting place to work.
CHOOSE YOUR PROGRAMME
Each year we offer opportunities in both Commercial and Engineering programmes. Both of these can lead to a rewarding and fulfilling career.
INEOS offers engineering graduates a variety of career opportunities. These can either be based at one of our major manufacturing sites or across Europe. In the UK the five-year programme will help you achieve chartership. Elsewhere in Europe we provide similar initiatives and opportunities to progress your early career.
You’ll work on live projects alongside experienced engineers to mentor and guide you. We recruit from all major disciplines including chemical, mechanical, electrical & instrument, and process control.
Later in the programme, you may also have the opportunity to move to a different business or country. So we look for the ability and desire to be mobile, particularly if you’re ambitious for senior management roles such as Site or Operations Manager.
For examples of the type of engineering roles you would start in, check out the videos below featuring some of our recent graduates.
Sign up to our Commercial Programme and you’ll be on track to be a future leader acquiring valuable international experience early on. During the five-year programme you’ll move between INEOS businesses, functions and countries. This way you’ll build experience, skills and knowledge by being exposed to a broad range of commercial disciplines.
We recruit graduates into real jobs straight away, so the roles available will vary from year to year. Examples of areas you could work in include supply chain, logistics, trading & shipping sales and operations. Once you’ve been accepted on the programme we’ll work with you to match you with a role you feel comfortable in.

In year four you’ll be invited to take part in the adventure of a lifetime – cycling, running and climbing in the remote Namibian desert.
‘Brutal and brilliant’ is how one of our last group described the In Nam challenge, where graduates traverse the Skeleton Coast, Damaraland and Kaokaveld Wilderness areas of Northern Namibia.
In one unforgettable week you’ll pass over three ancient volcanic craters, climb Namibia’s highest peak, conquer the unforgiving basalt lavas of the Ugab on foot – and more besides.
This memorable experience will test and expand your limits, build your fitness and show you what you are truly capable of.
To make sure you get the most out of this unique trip we cater to all fitness levels and will provide you with advice and a training programme to suit you.
