INEOS Hydrogen
Positioning in the value chain
The hydrogen value chain spans renewable electricity production to end use sectors, such as transport and industry.
INEOS is uniquely positioned to take a leading role in the emerging low-carbon and renewable hydrogen market as it is active in multiple areas of the value chain.
- Production – we have been producing and handling hydrogen safely for over 125 years across Europe.
- Storage – INEOS plays a vital role in the HyNet industrial decarbonisation project, which will enable large scale hydrogen storage in UK underground caverns.
- Supply – we supply hydrogen across industries as a feedstock or fuel and supply fuel cell grade hydrogen into the mobility sector to power larger vehicles.
- Offtake – we consume hydrogen both as a raw material feedstock and a fuel. Alongside this, INEOS is developing a fuel-cell version of its Grenadier vehicle.
Powering innovation
INEOS Electrochemical Solutions have developed a state of the art alkaline water electrolyser, with supply chain capability and expertise to rapidly develop industrial scale production.
