INEOS Styrolution donates $29,500 to local shelter and critical children and women’s health charities in Texas

  • Texas charity organizations receive urgent funding issued by the INEOS Community Fund, after the COVID-19 pandemic greatly affects operations of essential service programs.

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has increased demand for essential aid programs. The INEOS Styrolution site in Bayport, Texas continued their ongoing work to support local children’s charity organization, Today’s Harbor for Children.

    Pandemic-related job loss has left many Americans without health insurance. INEOS Styrolution’s Marina View site, provided critical funding to Texas, woman’s health organization, The Rose.

    Recognizing the effects of food insecurity and homeless within their community, INEOS Styrolution, Texas City issued their support and a critical donation to The Salvation Army of Galveston County.



    After the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of their annual summer golf fundraiser for the children’s charity, Today’s Harbor for Children. INEOS Styrolution’s Bayport, Texas site delivered a $10,000 grant to the organization through the INEOS Community Fund.

    Today's Harbor for Children is a residential community in a seaside campus of La Porte, Texas. The charity provides resources, support, and guidance for children in crisis.

    This grant will used by the charity to ensure continuity of its services and to strengthen its provision of core services for children in its care.  Specifically, the grant will be used to support the charity’s provision of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education and will help the charity create a stable family life for children who have suffered abuse, neglect, and abandonment.

    Michael Knudsen, Chairman, Board of Directors at Today’s Harbor for Children said: “On behalf of everyone at Today’s Harbor for Children, I would like to express our sincerest gratitude to INEOS for this incredible gift! Our programs provide stability and comfort for children coming from circumstances outside of their control and with this contribution, we will be able to provide the essentials for a child for four months!     INEOS Styrolution’s Bayport Site Director, Rob Osterhold states: “We have a long standing partnership
    with Today’s Harbor, having sponsored golf tournaments with support from our employees and suppliers for many years. The organization, and the kids, have a special place in our community and in our hearts. We’re delighted that we can help to sustain Today’s Harbor efforts, particularly in this challenging time through the INEOS Community Fund.”





    INEOS Styrolution’s Marina View site in League City, Texas, donated a $7500 grant to The Rose through the INEOS Community Fund.

    The Rose has been committed to eliminating inequities in breast health care for women in Southeast Texas, since 1986. Establishing itself as a breast health safety net, it has a reputation of doing whatever it takes and turning no one away.

    After a six-week closure and thousands of women left uninsured due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Rose resumed breast health services. “Sadly, the very first biopsy we performed resulted in cancer for an uninsured, sponsored woman.” Said, Dorothy Gibbons, CEO & Co-Founder of The Rose.

    Gibbons further states, This funding from the INEOS Community Fund, will support operations as we rebound from the shutdown, and restructure the organization to serve women today, tomorrow, and well into the future.”

    INEOS Styrolution’s site in Texas City provided The Salvation Army of Galveston County a $12,000 grant through the INEOS Community Fund.

    In March 2020, the Salvation Army changed from an emergency, over-night only shelter to a 24-hour operation. Providing shelter during local stay-at-home orders due the COVID-19 pandemic. The Salvation Army of Galveston County has continued providing community meals each evening. To manage with the increased volume of meals and to make it easier to maintain social distancing, they have had to move outside to their disaster canteen to keep up.

    The grant will support the organization’s ability to continue expanded services to the community due to COVID-19, providing shelter, meals, and groceries to those in need.

    The Salvation Army’s Regional Coordinator, Captain Nathanael Doria, commented, “We are very grateful for INEOS’ generous support. It will have a far-reaching, practical impact in assisting people in the community during this challenging time.”

    INEOS Styrolution Gulf Coast, Human Resource Manager, Jennifer Warne stated, “The Salvation Army has been a tremendous support to the community during hurricanes and other disasters. While there are many people in Galveston County that have counted on them for necessities, the widespread impact of the pandemic has increased demand. The organization has shown great commitment and compassion to respond quickly to urgent needs within the community.”


    The £1m INEOS Community Fund was established by INEOS Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe in March 2020 in tandem with the company’s Covid-19 “Hands On” campaign, which set up new production lines to provide millions of bottles of free hand sanitizer per month to hospitals and frontline healthcare. The fund enables INEOS sites across the world to support the charitable organizations doing vital work in their local communities at this particularly difficult time.
