INOVYN ANNOUNCES INTENTION TO INVEST IN A NEW MEMBRANE CELLROOM AT COLOGNE, GERMANY
INOVYN has today announced its intention to undertake a major investment in a new state-of-the-art membrane cellroom for the production of chlorine and caustic soda at Cologne (Germany).
Initial design and feasibility studies are under way, with Project completion expected in 2021.
The chlorine produced in the new cellroom will mainly be supplied to INEOS Oxide to support its strategy to increase propylene oxide production at its Cologne Site, whilst the caustic soda will be sold in the European market, underpinning security of supply to INOVYN’s customers
This Project forms part of INOVYN’s substantial chlor-alkali investment programme, which has so far included a well advanced membrane cellroom conversion at Stenungsund (Sweden), as well as the recently completed expansion of its membrane chlorine cellroom at Antwerp/Lillo (Belgium) and a major investment in a large scale potassium hydroxide (KOH) production facility at the same site.
These projects complement INOVYN’s existing high quality membrane based production portfolio across Europe, with assets in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Norway and the UK.
Comments Chris Tane, CEO for INOVYN: “Our planned project at Cologne is another major investment by INOVYN that will underpin the sustainability and competitiveness of our business in the long term.
“Specifically, this investment is a clear sign of INOVYN’s ongoing commitment to its European caustic soda customers.”
