For the third year in a row, INEOS Bamble hosted the AbelGøy maths competition this week, bringing together twelve ninth graders from Bamble, Kragerø and Drangedal to solve theoretical and practical maths problems in this qualifying round.
It is the Science Centre DuVerden that organises the competition every year, where the sharpest maths heads in the 9th grade in Telemark and Vestfold gather. With the competition, they want to highlight the important role mathematics plays in today's society and inspire young people to explore the opportunities that science provides.
To make the mathematics even more interesting, local businesses are involved as hosts. This helps to create a realistic and engaging experience for students. This year, the quarter-finals in Grenland were added to Equinor, INEOS Bamble and ABB.

Thanks to Kristin Nomme for planning and carrying out practical tasks in the laboratory. Which schools will advance to the finals is not clear yet, and we wish everyone good luck in the future!
