Shifting gears toward ELV compliance

The proposed End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulation includes recycled-plastic-content requirements for new vehicles, with targets of 20% by 2032 and 25% by 2036. As a result, demand is growing for materials that combine recycled content with the high performance required for automotive applications. INEOS Styrolution's mechanically recycled Novodur® ECO High Heat portfolio brings together recycled content, aesthetics and processing performance in a single material solution.

Recycled content without compromise

Higher recycled content should not require trade-offs in performance or processing. As drop-in solutions for conventional Novodur® grades, our Novodur® High Heat ECO materials enable customers to incorporate mechanically recycled post-consumer waste while maintaining the properties required for demanding interior applications.

Based on emulsion ABS technology, the portfolio delivers excellent flow, a broad processing window, low emissions and the high-quality, low-gloss appearance expected in automotive interiors. Suitable applications include pillars, glove boxes, mounting brackets and rear light housings. Sourced from European post-consumer waste streams, these material help manufacturers advance circularity goals while meeting the requirements of demanding automotive applications.  INEOS Styrolution is currently the only supplier in Europe offering mechanically recycled ABS materials in large-scale commercial production.

For customers seeking to increase recycled content, Novodur® High Heat ECO grades are available with recycled content levels of 30% to 40%, including:

  • Novodur ECO HH-106 MR30
  • Novodur ECO H605 MR30
  • Novodur ECO H801 MR40
  • Novodur ECO Ultra 4255 MR30

Supporting the path to ELV compliance

As automotive manufacturers prepare for future ELV requirements, they need materials that support circularity goals without compromising performance, appearance or processability. Our Novodur® ECO High Heat portfolio helps manufacturers increase the use of recycled material while meeting the demanding standards required for automotive components.
