2020 ECOVADIS Gold Sustainability Rating
INEOS Europe has been officially recognised for its commitment to building a more sustainable and environmentally-sound business. EcoVadis’ gold rating puts INEOS in the top 4% of the best-rated chemical companies around the world – and follows gold and platinum ratings for its INOVYN and Styrolution businesses.
Peter Williams, Group Technology Director and Head of Investor Relations for INEOS Group, said sustainability was at the heart of how INEOS operated.
“It is also critically important to our employees, customers, investors and communities,” he said.
EcoVadis is an independent organisation which specialists in assessing the performance of companies globally. It looks at companies’ records on the environment, work practices, ethics, and sustainability of their suppliers.
Greet Van Eetvelde, Head of Energy & Innovation at INEOS Group, said INEOS’ environmental performance had been especially noted.
The score reflected the group’s pledge to cut carbon emissions by switching to green power and heat, reusing hydrogen and CO2 and, where it can, using recycled or bio-based raw materials instead of fossil fuels.
The company has also set itself challenging targets to reduce plastics going to landfill by recycling it into high quality products by 2025.
