- At INEOS Oxide in Zwijndrecht, the new Safety Street was inaugurated together with colleagues
- A Safety Street helps to make safety, procedures and risks visible and clear
Safety is a top priority for INEOS. The new Safety Street at INEOS Oxide helps to clearly communicate our safety procedures to colleagues and contractors. It is a "real life safety introduction" that they literally step through.
Along the way, they will be introduced to attributes and tools that they will have to use, they will receive more explanation about the safety principles at INEOS and they will be made aware of possible risks and how to prevent them. In this way, everyone really experiences why safety is so important: it has much more impact than just a theoretical explanation or a safety film.
"Ensuring that everyone always returns home safely is our top priority," said INEOS Oxide site manager Roel De Vil, "and the Safety Street will be an essential link in our safety policy. We want to increase the knowledge of our safety rules among contractors - and also our own employees. By showing a hoist, flange cap or crash block in the Safety Street, we make visible why it is important to comply with the rules. A live test with fall protection impresses and shows why we consider safe working so important.”
A knowledge test and a cool helmet sticker for those who pass complete the Safety Street. A lot of work preceded it and in mid-February it was inaugurated together with all employees.
There are also similar initiatives at other INEOS sites. For example, INEOS Aromatics in Geel has a safety center with similar setups and Safety Streets have also been developed at INEOS Aromatics in Lillo and at INEOS Phenol in Doel as a result of major maintenance works in which many different parties are involved.
