INEOS Electrochemical Solutions is proud to announce the successful commissioning of a latest-generation BICHLOR electrolyser at the Chemfab Alkalis Ltd facility in India. This installation replaces a nearly 30-year-old system with cutting-edge technology that delivers greater operational efficiency, enhanced reliability and reduced energy costs for their chlor-alkali production.

The new modular bipolar electrolyser marks a major upgrade of Chemfab Alkalis’ core electrochemical infrastructure and aligns with its strategy to modernise legacy assets.

Terry Healy, Business Manager, INEOS Electrochemical Solutions stated: “We are delighted to see this latest-generation electrolyser go into operation, reflecting INEOS’s commitment to delivering world-class electrolysis technology that helps our partners improve efficiency and competitiveness. This project strengthens Chemfab Alkalis’ operations and underscores the value of innovation in industrial chemistry.”

Dan Cundill, Head of Sales & Marketing, added: “Delivering advanced electrolyser solutions like this is a testament to INEOS’s expertise in electrochemical technology and our ability to reduce energy demand and support long-term sustainability goals for our customers. Projects like this demonstrate the meaningful impact that modern electrolysis can have on plant performance and cost optimisation while supporting more efficient and resilient chemical manufacturing.”

The new INEOS-supplied electrolyser is engineered to provide a more stable operating profile and reduced downtime, critical for chlor-alkali operations where uninterrupted performance directly affects production consistency and operating costs. Crucially, Chemfab Alkalis anticipates significant energy savings, driven by improved electricity efficiency per unit of output.

This successful commissioning highlights INEOS’s role as a technology partner of choice in the electrochemical sector and reinforces its broader strategic focus on delivering industrial electrolysis for energy-efficient, cost-competitive manufacturing.
