INEOS Electrochemical Solutions is proud to announce that its groundbreaking Hydraeon alkaline water electrolyser secured two major honours at the prestigious IChemE Global Awards on Nov 20th 2025.
INEOS was recognised for its exceptional leadership and innovation in the clean-energy sector, taking home the awards for:
- Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering
- Oil, Gas and Energy Transition
These awards highlight INEOS Electrochemical Solutions’ pioneering work in accelerating the global shift to low-carbon hydrogen production. Hydraeon, developed by the company’s world-class engineering and electrochemistry teams, delivers scalable, high-efficiency alkaline electrolysis designed to support industrial decarbonisation at pace and at scale.
“We are incredibly honoured to receive this recognition from IChemE,” said Terry Healy, Business Manager. “Our Hydraeon electrolyser represents years of innovation and outstanding engineering. These awards are a testament to the talent, know-how and dedication of our team and a clear signal that INEOS play a defining role in the energy transition”.
The Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering Award acknowledges projects that demonstrate technical excellence, creativity, and significant impact on society or industry. Hydraeon, a modular 25MW system built on 125 years of chlor-alkali expertise, stood out for its optimised cell design, enhanced coatings performance and ultra-low energy consumption - making green hydrogen production more accessible and economically viable.
The Oil, Gas and Energy Transition Award recognised technologies that enable decarbonisation across traditional energy sectors. Hydraeon impressed judges by setting a new benchmark for safe, reliable, and large-scale low-carbon hydrogen production, offering companies a robust pathway to reduce emissions and transition towards cleaner energy sources.
“Hydraeon is a modern, high-efficiency electrolyser grounded in proven engineering excellence and plant operating experience,” added Rob Craig, Technology Manager, “Our deep technical heritage in chlor-alkali technology and operations gives us the depth of experience needed to design an alkaline water electrolyser that performs at scale, with the energy efficiency, safety and robustness customers expect”.

INEOS Electrochemical Solutions continue to expand deployment of Hydraeon technology globally, supporting customers in establishing reliable, low-carbon hydrogen supply for a net-zero future.
