Chlorine and Hydrochloric Acid
Chlorine is a basic chemical building block essential to public health and is used every day in thousands of products and applications. It is produced by the electrolysis of potassium chloride brine as a gas and then dried, cooled and compressed to a liquid. Chlorine is used as a feedstock for other ASHTA products, including HCl and chloropicrin. It can be shipped via tank car.
Applications and Markets:
- Automotive components,
- Construction materials,
- Cosmetics,
- Food,
- Crop protection,
- Electronics,
- Healthcare,
- Fire protection,
- Plastics,
- Water and wastewater treatment
Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) is one of the most widely used chemicals for industrial applications. ASHTA produces hydrochloric acid, or HCl, “on purpose” by combining hydrogen and chlorine.
Applications and Markets:
• Acid etching
• Food processing
• Oil and gas processing
• Ore and mineral processing
• Pharmaceutical
• Production of calcium chloride
• Steel pickling
