INEOS is moving quickly with its plans to design and build a brand new uncompromising 4 x 4 off-roader to fill a gap in the market vacated by a well-loved off-road vehicle that ceased production last year.  INEOS is the world’s third largest chemical company employing 18,500 people, operating 105 facilities in 22 countries. It is a major engineering company with sales of $40bn and it is setting up a new automotive business.  Our job is to create the best 4x4 in the world and we are looking to build a team with seasoned experts from the Automotive industry, in the following positions: 


1. Commercial Director

You are a highly motivated and commercially focused automotive expert, looking for the right opportunity to make your mark. In this role we will look to you to:

  • Bring a strong commercial challenge to our vehicle development programme, by applying good technical understanding and strong financial acumen
  • Be responsible for the design-to-cost during vehicle development
  • Act as commercial lead on material make-or-buy and footprint decisions
  • Manage the commercial aspects of the business plan (volumes, prices, margins, P&L)
  • Initiate plans for new products and new markets, and prepares market and competitor analyses as part of strategic planning

2. Project Managers

You thrive on defining the key deliverables of a project, and driving the project plan from start to finish. The more complicated and challenging the project, the better. In this role, you will:

  • Provide project management leadership for all technical aspects of the new vehicle development and industrialisation programme
  • Bring deep experience gained at either a Tier 1 or OEM, with hands-on knowledge of the automotive design and launch process, from concept-to-industrialisation
  • Define and monitor lean/best-cost development and production processes
  • Work iteratively with the design team to ensure the technical aspects of the programme align with design initiatives
  • Anticipate risks and develop mitigation approaches – especially as regards to scope changes
  • Lead the determination of the real net output ratio and degree of automation
  • Apply your experience in methods-time measurement (MTM)
  • Coordinate supply chain partners on all aspects of planning, scheduling and controlling

3. Procurement/Supply Chain Managers

The Procurement/Supply Chain managers will provide leadership for all aspects of procurement and supply chain management, and:

  • Bring at least 10 years’ experience gained at either a Tier 1 or OEM
  • Build relationships with, and negotiate contracts, with Tier 1’s and other supply chain partners
  • Bring industry experience and established networks to build the INEOS procurement network and initial automotive supply chain
  • Define and implement the long-term strategy for procurement and materials management
  • Implement systems, best practises and inventory control/demand planning tools to optimise working capital, product quality and delivery performance
  • Lead strategic make-or-buy decisions and footprint planning

4. Head of Quality

The Head of Quality will provide deep expertise in all quality-related matters, and will:

  • Build and lead the quality function in the business, and provide support and advice to the business for all quality-related topics
  • Drive a quality culture in the business, and bring constant challenge to optimise quality
  • Implement systems and best practises to measure and optimise quality
  • Implement quality improvement plans to achieve quality objectives
  • Act as the customer interface for all quality matters

5. Chief Engineer Complete Vehicle

The Chief Engineer Complete Vehicle will bring comprehensive experience in the technical development of the entire vehicle, especially in the field of 4x4 powertrains, and:

  • Bring long-term management responsibility in the areas of production, planning and industrial engineering, as well as experience in the management of a "best in class" production
  • Develop and implement an automotive-compatible production strategy, with a team to support the implementation of the strategy
  • Have responsibility for overseeing the external R&D, pre-development and production partners, from sample production to serial production;
    • Design the “to cost measures” for production in collaboration with R&D
    • Apply strong knowledge of lean management and in the fields of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), project planning and value analysis
    • Have deep knowledge of the quality systems and related processes
