Marl

The INEOS Phenol operations are a part of the Marl chemical park which is located in the northern Ruhr area of Germany. The Marl Chemical Park is the third largest integrated industrial site in Germany and hosts in excess of twenty differing companies.

At Marl, INEOS Styrenics operates a 260,000 te/a cumene plant on behalf of INEOS Phenol.

Production of Cumene first started in 1954 and over the years, the capacity has been increased to today’s level of 260,000 te/a. The raw materials for the plant (benzene, propylene) are provided by INEOS Phenol and are shipped to the site via pipeline, barge and railcar. The resulting cumene is then fed, 17 km via pipeline, to our Phenol plant in Gladbeck.

Our Marl operations comply with the current versions of the international standards ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. At the moment we are working on a construction of a new world scale Cumene unit.
